Onward 2012!

The hubs and I were actually awake to ring in the new year for the first time in years! We were even at a party-that was not at our house! Happy New Year everyone, may we all grow and succeed in 2012.

Hopefully the Mayans just got tired of writing their calendar and the world will not end in December of 2012, because I have a lot of things I still want to accomplish. I am person of lists. I love making lists and then I love it even more when I can cross something off. My life list currently includes 86 items, 34 of which have been accomplished...but everyday I think of a few more things I want to do. A few of the items from my list are included below in our urban farm goals for this coming year (bees!).

Our urban homesteading goals for 2012:

  1. Build a top bar hive and get some bees!
  2. Build a new roof for the chicken coop.
  3. Start an herb garden in the front yard.
  4. Make more wine.
  5. Make more cider.
  6. Expand our water collection system.
  7. Build a root cellar.
  8. Learn to make mead.
  9. Grow some artichokes.
  10. Use the pressure canner.

  1. It's a great list and so many of the same goals we have. I'd love to start a hive, start worms, landscape the front. I'll be keeping an eye on your blog for lots of ideas!
